A foundation level course like this one, or its equivalent in study and practice, is a prerequisite for our intermediate and advanced level courses at WMC.
Join us as we explore the authentic path of meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and skillfully transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. We will explore such topics as the life of the Buddha, the birth of confusion and suffering, karma, and the path back to sanity, focusing on the techniques and stages of meditation and bringing practice into daily life.
Readings are from a wide variety of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings, which will be provided in a digital source book. Each class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation, followed by facilitated discussion on the topics covered in the readings. Audio recordings of all classes, including both talk and discussion, will be available online.
This series is recommended for both experienced practitioners and for those just getting started, and is designed to benefit participants whether or not they attend regularly.
The course will be given in three semesters, each with twelve class sessions:
Fall Semester — Discovering Sanity through the Path of Meditation
Winter Semester — Transforming Self-Centeredness into Wholeheartedness
Spring Semester — Treading the Path of Wisdom and Compassion
Note that WMC maintains a policy of making our programs affordable to all. Those with limited income please offer what you can afford.
