Embracing this Present Life

from $140.00

September 11th, 2022 – December 18, 2022*

  • Sunday afternoons: 10 am – 12 pm ET

  • In-person meeting location: The Aligned Center, 1 Bridge Street, Suite 64, Irvington, New York

  • Registration: $140 suggested donation for semester

Please join us on Sunday mornings for a community gathering involving meditation practice, readings, and discussion. The theme of this season of Open House is Embracing this Present Life, inspired by the book Wisdom of No Escape by Pema Chödrön, published by Shambhala Publications. This classic volume embraces one of the author’s core themes--it is possible to say yes to life in all its manifestations, even the most challenging. By embracing both happiness and suffering, intelligence, and confusion, all of which are a natural part of being human, one can courageously move forward in life being the best person we are able to be by facing ourselves and evolving circumstances. It is not necessary to purchase the book; however, participants, who can attend the full series or drop in, are most welcome to!

At each gathering, we will practice for two sessions with walking meditation in between, share reading and have a group discussion. We intend to meet in person if all goes well with appropriate Covid protocols. *No meeting November 27th – Thanksgiving Weekend

You may register for the full session of courses or attend as a drop-in. No experience or registration is required.
