Please join us as we explore the Path of Natural Wakefulness through the advanced teachings of the Vajrayana. With this final and culminating segment, our Foundation Curriculum now presents all three “yanas” or levels of the authentic path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and expertly transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time—Chogyam Trungpa.
This third segment is meant to provide students a clear understanding of Buddhist Vajrayana so they can make an informed decision about whether to actually enter into it. This semester we will explore the essence of the Vajrayana path, including Vajra Nature, non-theistic devotion and the evolution of the teacher-student relationship, and the nature of the transmission which formally enters one into Vajrayana practice.
Readings from a wide variety of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings have been selected and assembled into a source book, which will be available soon either in hard copy (at cost) or digitally. Each class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation, followed by a talk and discussion. This third segment will be presented in two courses; the second one will be offered in the Winter of 2023. Since this course is the continuation of our Foundation Curriculum and builds upon the prior segments, there are prerequisites*. This course will be led by Senior Teacher Derek Kolleeny assisted by Teachers Laura Read and Erich Kramer. Audio recordings of the classes will be made available.
*Prerequisites for the course include completion of the introductory Foundation Curriculum (i.e. the first three segments of the Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha), as well as the two Intermediate Curriculum courses (The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma Volumes One and Two), or an equivalent level of study and practice. To discuss any of this please contact Derek at dkolleeny@gmail.com.
